Inception and Introduction

Cricket was introduced to Cameroon through a project initiated by the Commonwealth Students and Youth Development Organisation. Dubbed the Cameroon Cricket Outreach Program (CCOP), this project was the brainchild of Victor Agbor-Nso. The CCOP had clear objectives: to promote Commonwealth values, introduce cricket at the grassroots level, and use the sport as a tool for youth empowerment and development.

Formation of a Governing Body

As the sport gained popularity, the need for a formal national body became evident. Following a set of conditions from Cameroon’s Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, the Cameroon Cricket Federation (FECACRICKET) was officially recognized. This was formalized by a ministerial decision on February 15, 2005, which designated FECACRICKET as the sole governing body for cricket in Cameroon.

Pursuing International Recognition

With its official status secured, FECACRICKET focused on its core missions and objectives. While the CCOP continued to develop players and empower youth, the federation worked diligently to meet the International Cricket Council (ICC) guidelines for Affiliate Membership. Their efforts were geared toward establishing Cameroon on the global cricketing stage.

Admission into the ICC

The hard work culminated in a significant achievement on June 29, 2007. At the Annual General Meeting in London, Cameroon was formally admitted as an Affiliate of the ICC. This milestone marked the country's official entry into the international cricketing community, solidifying its place among the world’s cricket-playing nations.
